คณะเกษตรและเทคโนโลยี มหาวิทยาลัยนครพนม ร่วมกับ เรือนจำกลางนครพนม จัดกิจกรรมสืบสานประเพณี “ลงแขกดำนา” ประจำปีการศึกษา 2568 ณ แปลงนาใหญ่ ภายในเรือนจำกลางนครพนม โดยมี ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.เสาวคนธ์ เหมวงษ์ คณบดีคณะเกษตรและเทคโนโลยี และ นายฉลาด อ่อนหัวโทน ผู้บัญชาการเรือนจำกลางนครพนม ร่วมเป็นประธานในพิธี พร้อมด้วยบุคลากรทางการศึกษา เจ้าหน้าที่เรือนจำ และนักศึกษาผู้ต้องขังทั้งชายและหญิง เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมรวม 161 คน 

กิจกรรมดังกล่าว จัดขึ้นเพื่อส่งเสริมให้นักศึกษาซึ่งอยู่ในสถานะผู้ต้องขัง ได้เรียนรู้และตระหนักถึงคุณค่าของวิถีชีวิตและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น ผ่านการลงมือปฏิบัติจริงในพื้นที่นา ทั้งยังเป็นการอนุรักษ์และสืบสานวัฒนธรรมด้านการเกษตรของไทย และสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยกับหน่วยงานท้องถิ่น

อาจารย์สรินทรเทพ สายเนตร ภูกฤตธาดา อาจารย์ประจำสาขาวิชาสหวิทยาการศึกษา คณะเกษตรและเทคโนโลยี เปิดเผยว่า กิจกรรมลงแขกดำนา ถือเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการเรียนรู้ในรายวิชาภาคปฏิบัติ ภายใต้โครงการความร่วมมือทางการศึกษาระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยนครพนมกับเรือนจำกลาง ซึ่งจัดการเรียนการสอนในระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพ (ปวช.) หลักสูตร “เกษตรศาสตร์” โดยมีนักศึกษาในระบบจากเรือนจำ ทั้ง 3 แห่ง ได้แก่ เรือนจำกลางนครพนม เรือนจำจังหวัดสกลนคร และเรือนจำจังหวัดมุกดาหาร รวมประมาณ 350 คน ซึ่งเริ่มดำเนินโครงการมาตั้งแต่ปี 2565 เป็นต้นมา

หลักสูตรดังกล่าวเปิดรับผู้เรียนที่มีวุฒิการศึกษาระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนต้น (ม.3) และมีโทษไม่ต่ำกว่าระยะเวลาการศึกษา (3 ปี) โดยเน้นการเรียนรู้ทั้งภาคทฤษฎีและภาคปฏิบัติ ครอบคลุม 6 ด้าน ได้แก่ คณิตศาสตร์และวิทยาศาสตร์พื้นฐาน ด้านอาหาร สัตวศาสตร์ พืชศาสตร์ ประมง และด้านช่าง ซึ่งผู้ที่สำเร็จการศึกษาจะได้รับวุฒิการศึกษาที่สามารถนำไปใช้สมัครงาน หรือแม้กระทั่งสอบเข้ารับราชการได้

สำหรับผู้ต้องขังที่ได้รับพระราชทานอภัยโทษในระหว่างศึกษา หากมีความประสงค์สามารถโอนย้ายเข้าสู่ระบบการเรียนปกติที่คณะเกษตรและเทคโนโลยี มหาวิทยาลัยนครพนม ได้ทันที โดยไม่เสียสิทธิ์ทางการศึกษา ซึ่งขณะนี้มีนักศึกษาในรุ่นแรกของโครงการกำลังศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 3 ของภาคเรียนที่ 2

กิจกรรม “ลงแขกดำนา” ครั้งนี้ นับเป็นความสำเร็จของการบูรณาการการเรียนรู้ควบคู่กับการสืบสานวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่น พร้อมทั้งเป็นตัวอย่างของการใช้การศึกษาเป็นเครื่องมือในการพัฒนาและคืนคนดีสู่สังคม

The Faculty of Agriculture and Technology at Nakhon Phanom University, in collaboration with Nakhon Phanom Central Prison, organized the "Down to Earth" rice planting tradition preservation activity for the 2025 academic year at the large rice field within Nakhon Phanom Central Prison. The event was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Saowakhon Hemwong, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology, and Mr. Chalat Onhuaton, Superintendent of Nakhon Phanom Central Prison, co-chaired the ceremony. Educational personnel, prison officials, and male and female inmate students, totaling 161 people, also participated in the event.

This activity was organized to encourage students who are incarcerated to learn and appreciate the value of local lifestyles and wisdom thru hands-on practice in rice fields. It also aims to conserve and pass on Thai agricultural culture and foster good relationships between the university and local agencies.


Professor Sarinthorntep Saineat Phukrittathada, a faculty member in the Interdisciplinary Studies program at the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology, revealed that the rice planting activity is part of the practical course learning under the educational cooperation project between Nakhon Phanom University and the Central Prison, which provides instruction at the vocational certificate (V.C.) level. The "Agricultural Science" program, with approximately 350 students from the three prisons: Nakhon Phanom Central Prison, Sakon Nakhon Provincial Prison, and Mukdahan Provincial Prison, has been running since 2022.


The program is open to students with a lower secondary education (Grade 9) and a sentence of no less than the duration of the study (3 years), with an emphasis on both theoretical and practical learning. It covers 6 areas: basic mathematics and science, food, animal science, plant science, fisheries, and engineering. Graduates will receive a qualification that can be used to apply for jobs or even take civil service exams.


For inmates who received a royal pardon during their studies, if they wish, they can immediately transfer into the regular education system at the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology, Nakhon Phanom University, without losing their educational rights. Currently, students in the first cohort of the project are studying in their third year of the second semester.


This "cooperative rice planting" activity was a success, demonstrating the integration of learning with the preservation of local culture. It also served as an example of using education as a tool for development and reintegrating good people into society.
